First child leaving the nest

I am exhausted! It was time for Ulrik to start a new chapter of his life and go to college, and all his old mom can think of is how the heck did that happen?

We had booked an “unloading time slot” Thursday where we just dumped all of his big stuff in the dorm room. They had put up Pokémon’s on every single door with the names of the students living in there (and we were very curious to actually meet Aditya):

But he was not there Thursday. In fact only few other people were. But some came in and said hello and overall it felt quite welcoming.

Fast forward to Saturday, where we did the classic “pre college shopping in Target” with about several hundred others....... here is the loot of Tylenol/laundry detergent/shampoo/cleaning wipes/razor etc etc

And off we went (with the radio playing “the final countdown” - LOL)

We had to send Kristian to Home Depot to by a fan, as the room was quite hot and humid and dank otherwise. And in the meantime we got to meet the roommate AKA the nicest kid from Colorado, who was going into engineering and seemed like a perfect room mate for someone like Ulrik❤️I am so happy...... and tired..... and sad...... and excited...., and worried. All at once. I guess I am not the only one though
